Communications Manager - Public Relations, Program Manager, Market research
Netchannels is looking for a talented communications individual to join our Marketing Team focused on the Public Sector. The ideal candidate is an experienced public relations manager with outstanding understanding of program management and market research & analytics with a proven track record of delivering executive communications for the Public Sector.
A successful candidate will be detail-oriented and committed to meeting tight deadlines. Preference will be given to those with a past performances in high tech..
NOTE: the government landscape is very different from the typical commercial audience and knowledge of the public sector is requirement.
Communications – Press Relations
Project Overview:
Google Public Sector (GPS) is at a critical juncture in developing and landing a programmatic approach to Communications in support of the ever-evolving business. GPS has reached a point where a heavier touch on both (1) program management and (2) analytical resources is pertinent to our Communication Function’s success.
Efforts required of these resources will be market & data analysis and consistent executive engagement (eg. communications, presentations).
Overall Responsibilities:
- Build repeatable processes for Communications Engagement across GPS
- Provide low level project management support
- Compiling information from various sources for PubSec newsletters
- Compile, Synthesize, and Complete weekly press snapshot every Friday
- Engage with GPS Senior Leadership (Level 8+) on a daily basis in order to execute processes
- Perform market research and internal analysis on Google Public Sector segment strategy
- Take input from all stakeholders, feedback from board members, conducting interviews as needed to consult
- Data collect, refine, and organize on executive communication (internal)
Deliverables:
- Build automated data collection & reporting process based on the above
- Executive Speaking Engagement Repository & Database
Required Skills:
- Experience in supporting the execution of complex projects or programs
- Ability to create visual designs for executive content
- Detail Oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Take ownership in your projects and ability to prioritize against deadlines
- Experience with Process Documentation
- Communications and/or Editorial background; useful for the executive talk track, executive platform, “scrubbing content”
- Proficiency with Google’s suite of products
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Creating first draft of comms plans (Take material about a customer story - usually a blog or case study and extract high level messages, and themes; research and identify the right publications that cover the story; help draft talking points off the story, etc.) - about 2/week:
- Drafting award nominations and collecting edits from execs and chiefs of staff - typically 1/month:
- Editing third party press releases (including drafting exec quotes and getting approvals; edits to comply with Google writing standards) - typically 2-5/week
- Monthly newsletter (including collecting content from contributors, editing and drafting the opening note from Karen; distributing the newsletter):
- Quarterly Town Halls (including project managing the content execution; drafting recommendations for the agenda, editing contributors content, drafting opening slides/talking points, drafting regular emails for town hall, drafting responses to Q&A):
Required Skills:
- MUST: High Tech industry knowledge including Cloud and Public sector
- 5+ years in technology marketing/Communications
- Experience amplifying content to IT decision makers preferred
- A bachelor’s degree, and demonstrated work experience, in English, Marketing or communications similar role; masters’ degree a plus
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to build compelling messages and storylines that align with personas, customer pain points, buyer’s journey stages, and brand voice and style
- Experience doing research using multiple sources
- Well-organized and detail-oriented professional that thrives in high-volume, high-velocity project environments
